How this is calculated
- •Take-home = gross − federal income tax − Social Security − Medicare − state income tax.
- •State tax is modelled for no-income-tax states and flat-rate states only. Progressive states (California, New York, New Jersey, etc.) are not yet included, pick "state isn't listed" and the result shows federal + FICA only, which understates your total.
- •Flat state tax is estimated on gross income; state-specific deductions and exemptions are not applied.
- •Social Security is capped at the $184,500 wage base; the 0.9% Additional Medicare tax applies above $200,000 (single) / $250,000 (joint).
- •Pre-tax 401(k), health-insurance premiums, and local/city taxes are not modelled. Estimate for guidance only, not tax advice.
