UK take-home pay calculator
Enter your gross annual salary and see your monthly take-home after income tax and employee National Insurance. Scotland's separate bands are modelled, as is the Personal Allowance taper that bites above £100,000, the two things most quick calculators get wrong.

How this is calculated
- •Take-home = gross − income tax − employee National Insurance. Assumes the standard tax code and no taxable benefits.
- •Personal Allowance is £12,570, tapered away £1 for every £2 of income over £100,000 (gone entirely at £125,140).
- •Scotland sets its own income-tax bands (six of them); National Insurance and the Personal Allowance are UK-wide.
- •Workplace pension contributions, student-loan repayments, and salary sacrifice are not included. Each one further changes take-home.
- •Estimate for guidance only, not tax advice.

United Kingdom take-home pay, answered
Does it handle Scottish income tax?
Yes. Scotland sets its own income-tax bands, six of them against three for the rest of the UK, and selecting Scotland applies them. National Insurance and the Personal Allowance are UK-wide and stay the same either way.
What happens to my Personal Allowance over £100,000?
It tapers: you lose £1 of allowance for every £2 of income above £100,000, and it is gone entirely at £125,140. That taper is modelled, which is why the effective rate climbs sharply through that band.
Does it include my pension or student loan?
No. Workplace pension contributions, student-loan repayments and salary sacrifice are not included, and each one changes your take-home further. Treat the figure here as your pay before those come out.
Which tax year does this use?
2026/27, using HM Treasury rates and allowances, currently frozen through to 2031, plus the Scottish Government's published bands. Both sources are linked under the result.
