Academic

Academic resume template

A traditional CV layout with a higher page allowance, for research and teaching applications where completeness beats brevity.

Layout structure of the Academic template: a single column running from the header down through experience, education and skills
Structure, not a pixel preview. It shows how the sections are arranged and where your content lands, drawn rather than screenshotted.

Certified limits

The point where the layout engine still keeps every bullet you wrote. One item past each of these, something gets hidden or the page count grows.

Who this suits

  • Research, teaching, and postdoctoral applications
  • Anyone who needs publications, funding, and teaching listed in full
  • Fields where a one-page resume would read as incomplete rather than disciplined

Where it is the wrong pick

Worth saying plainly, because a template that suits everyone suits nobody.

  • Industry applications, which expect one or two pages and will read a long CV as a failure to edit
  • Anyone outside academia, essentially

What the design actually does

  • Single column, conventional headings, no decoration
  • A higher page ceiling than the rest of the set, because the convention genuinely differs
  • Built to stay legible when a section runs across a page break

What certified means

Proven by a test

  • The content limits below are measured, not estimated. Each is the point where the layout engine still keeps every bullet you wrote.
  • One item past each limit, the engine either hides something or needs another page. A test asserts both halves, so a limit cannot be quietly raised.
  • Every section type renders: summary, experience, projects, education, skills, certifications, achievements, and anything custom.
  • Long company names and long URLs wrap instead of running off the page.
  • Nothing but filler sections is ever dropped to make content fit, and roles are never reordered.

Not yet proven

  • Pixel-level visual baselines are not yet automated, so a spacing regression would be caught by review rather than by a test.
  • PDF text extraction rates are not yet measured per template. The export path is shared by all of them, but that is an argument, not a measurement.

Other certified templates

Limits measured 2026-08-31 against the layout engine, and re-checked on every build. If a limit here stops being true, the build fails before the page can ship.
