Modern resume template

The default pick. A two-column layout that puts skills and credentials in a sidebar so the main column stays narrative.

Layout structure of the Modern template: a sidebar for credentials beside a main column of work history
Structure, not a pixel preview. It shows how the sections are arranged and where your content lands, drawn rather than screenshotted.

Certified limits

The point where the layout engine still keeps every bullet you wrote. One item past each of these, something gets hidden or the page count grows.

Who this suits

  • Most professional searches with a few roles and a real skills list
  • Anyone who wants credentials visible without interrupting the work history
  • Readers who will skim: the sidebar gives them somewhere to land

Where it is the wrong pick

Worth saying plainly, because a template that suits everyone suits nobody.

  • The longest histories. The second column narrows the text measure, so it holds less than the single-column templates before content gets hidden
  • Anyone who wants the simplest possible structure for a parser to read

What the design actually does

  • Two columns, with the sidebar placed before the main column in the document order so extracted text stays sequential
  • Skills, certifications and achievements route to the sidebar; the narrative sections stay in the main column
  • Clean sans-serif with an accent rule under the name

What certified means

Proven by a test

  • The content limits below are measured, not estimated. Each is the point where the layout engine still keeps every bullet you wrote.
  • One item past each limit, the engine either hides something or needs another page. A test asserts both halves, so a limit cannot be quietly raised.
  • Every section type renders: summary, experience, projects, education, skills, certifications, achievements, and anything custom.
  • Long company names and long URLs wrap instead of running off the page.
  • Nothing but filler sections is ever dropped to make content fit, and roles are never reordered.

Not yet proven

  • Pixel-level visual baselines are not yet automated, so a spacing regression would be caught by review rather than by a test.
  • PDF text extraction rates are not yet measured per template. The export path is shared by all of them, but that is an argument, not a measurement.

Other certified templates

Limits measured 2026-08-31 against the layout engine, and re-checked on every build. If a limit here stops being true, the build fails before the page can ship.
